I am so excited and grateful to the Discover Wisconsin team, namely Mariah Haberman, for including Badger State of Mind in the list of "12 Uniquely Wisconsin Holiday Gift Ideas." I am so proud to be amongst 11 other fabulous Wisconsin gift ideas. Head to The Bobber to see who else is on the list!

We are joined by Wisconsin author Kelly Maddern. Her book, "Badger State of Mind" is a unique book of stories and photographs that concentrates on the "off the beaten path" small towns and attractions that are so unique to Wisconsin. She is very passionate about Wisconsin and her book is her way of celebrating and sharing everything about our great state.

I was fortunate enough to meet Kelly Jo Stull, author of The Wisconsin Bucket List, at a book signing event in Waukesha back in November of 2013. Since then, we have become friends and have pulled together Wisconsin-themed book events such as the one pictured to the left. We sure had a lot of fun together and there will likely be more to come!

As you may have seen in the news over the 2013/2014 (cold!) winter, the ice caves up in Bayfield, Wisconsin were a tourist attraction this year. It's not very often the lake is frozen enough for someone to walk to the caves (muchless thousands of people). For the first time in 5 years, the caves were open for visitors and I took a crazy daytrip (7 hours one-way) to see them for myself. Here I am, pictured above, sitting in the ice caves. I was interviewed by Hank Snyder from the Beaver Dam Daily Citizen about the book. Click on the link below or the photo of the article to read more.

Every year the State of Wisconsin has the Governor's Tourism Awards as part of the Tourism Conference. I was lucky enough to be nominated for the Rising Star Award for the 2013 conference. Although I didn't win, it was a great experience and we sat at a table with cranberry growers from Warrens!
